I am a multidisciplinary developer, researcher, creator and educator. Working on the hybrid realms of game and software development, education delivery and development, and pedagogical research. My work is driven by a "theory and practice" approach: I build games, teach and conduct academic research to refine how we teach those same technical skills to the next generation.
Game Design & Studio Leadership
As the founder and Director of Xitol, I lead the development of titles with a focus on enjoyable, focused games of differing genres and styles, setting the ethos of Xitol with our approach of Gamer Friendly, Want to Play, Open Development and Ethical Design. I managed the end-to-end production and multi-platform launch of Mineral, a minimalist puzzle game published on PC, Xbox and PlayStation. Currently, I am heading the development of the studio's next unannounced title, utilizing Unreal Engine, 3DS Max, and the Quixel Suite among other software and tools, to bridge creative vision with technical execution.
Academic Research & Pedagogy
My work as an educator is informed by active research and a commitment to evidence-led teaching. Having completed an MA in Professional Practice in Education at Sheffield Hallam University, my research focused on:
Curriculum Innovation
As a Curriculum Coordinator, I translate my hands-on industry experience and pedagogical research directly into the classroom. I oversee the delivery and resource development of the KS3 & KS5 Computing curriculums including Digital Media, Computer Science and Games Design, developing bespoke resources that move students beyond being passive users of technology to becoming its architects. By mentoring students in industry-standard workflows, I aim to close the gap between academic study and professional indie development.
